Hi!
My name is Cameron Mincar, I’m a graphic designer and artist from the Burlington area of Vermont USA. I’m currently living in Burlington, just recently graduated from Champlain College where I got my Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design & Visual Communication. I currently do freelance, probono, and personal creative work and am seeking full time employment opportunities in the creative industry. That’s why I’ve put together this portfolio!
About me
For as long as I can remember, I’ve always been an expressive person. I’m someone who is driven to create, interact, and integrate myself with the world around me. I grew up in Richmond Vermont, a mostly rural town located in the foothills between Lake Champlain and the Northern Green Mountains. I spent a lot of time interacting with that natural environment. So many of my memories from that time consist simply of the land itself. The ever-changing seasons and landscapes instilled in me a special sense of time that helps me make sense of the years. My connection to this place is one of the first things that comes to mind when I think of what inspired me to be an expressive person. It’s that feeling of being so present in an environment that you want to be a part of it. Whether that means making footprints in the snow, carving ski tracks, clearing a little trail through the grass, or simply breathing in the fresh air, those moments are what make me feel most alive.
I became an artist because it gives me the ability to create environments. Painting landscapes quickly became one of my favorite subjects because it challenges me to think about what visual elements make them stand out to me and how I can render them with the tools at my disposal. I think the beautiful thing about art are the elements we pick up on and how we decide to craft them.
When I learned the art of craft, I wanted to become a designer. The process of transforming an idea into reality - through careful conceptualization, selecting materials (both digital and physical), and refining the design through constant iteration - fills me with excitement and purpose. This work is not only intellectually stimulating but also deeply meditative, offering both a challenge and a sense of fulfillment.
For me, design is the fusion of an idea and the environment it inhabits. It requires the designer to understand both the goals of the concept and the context in which it will exist, and to create a solution that bridges the two. I recognize the value of this balance, and I am confident that, as an educated designer with a passion for the craft, I have the skills and drive to take on this challenge professionally.
